Ermioni village is located in the East coast of the Peloponnese, near some very well known cultural sites (Mycenae, Epidaurus, Nafplio) and a very short ferry ride from the islands of Spetses and Hydra. Poros island & Methana peninsular are also easy to visit in one go. Surrounded by numerous beaches, the huge coastline offers the turquoise waters of the Aegean Sea at every turn. Our area is sometimes called “the island”.
Within Ermioni
Moving around Ermioni is easily done without a car which is what most of our guests enjoy to do, exploring at the same time. The routes down to the port are many and varied making every walk an adventure and feast for the eyes. You will only need transport when you visit the supermarket and carry your groceries. You will also need a car if you want to explore our area in terms of swimming places, culture and islands -except Hydra which you only need to catch the hydrofoil from the port. Car rental is possible by the port and the Metohi area opposite the island.
Getting to Ermioni
To get to Ermioni will take approximately 2.5 hours by any means of transfer you choose:
RENTAL CAR
Assuming arrival by plane at the Athens International Airport, car hire is available at the airport and is best to pre-arrange. It will take you at least 1 hour to get the car from the rental companies. Driving time from the airport to Ermioni village is approximately 2.5 hours with almost no traffic, on normal days. The first part is on the new motorway. The second part is through the mountainous and pine tree forests. On the way to Ermioni you’ll meet the Corinth Canal (about half way) and the historical site of Epidauros (with a small diversion).
There are three road toll charges on the motorway, the first is 2,80 EUR (just after you leave the airport), the second is 2.10 EUR (after you leave Athens behind) and the last (before the Corinth canal) costs 1.80 EUR. Petrol costs are about 30 EUR each way.
The alternative route is for visitors that arrive by ferry at Patras port (from Italy). Driving time is again about 3 hours. Full driving instructions are available (with maps, satellite maps and road details) after you book your holiday at the Tree-House.
HYDROFOIL FROM PIRAEUS PORT
From the airport, you need to get to Piraeus port and the hydrofoils. There is a 24-hour airport bus (X96) which takes you directly to Piraeus port and costs 5 EUR/person. It takes about 50 minutes. Also there is a subway from the airport towards the port of Piraeus, but you have to change trains in Monastiraki station and costs about 6 EUR/person. Finally, a taxi from the airport to the port costs approximately 35-40 EUR.
From Piraeus Port the hydrofoils to Ermioni would take approximately 2.5 hours depending on the stops (Poros and Hydra island).
The cost of the high speed hydrofoil (one way) is approximately 32 EUR/person. It needs to be well planed to allow for possible airplain details and the time for getting to Piraeus port after your arrival. There are usually 3-4 hydrofoil departures/day during high season.
